Mount Baw Baw snowfields offer the closest downhill skiing to Melbourne. Located on the Baw Baw Plateau, which runs from Mount Erica in the south to Mount Whitelaw in the north. The resort is an easy drive 120km east from Melbourne up from the Latrobe Valley. An extensive lift network accesses 35 hectares of groomed ski and snowboard runs, three snowplay areas including tobogganing plus cross-country ski trails. Skiers enjoy spectacular views across West Gippsland towards Bass Strait and Westernport, while visitors to Mount Baw Baw village have a full-range of accommodation and entertainment options. The resort is designed for both the day-tripper and week-long visitor, and caters for beginners with a snow school and plenty of equipment hire.
